2 July 2009: Today, EMTEC launches the next generation of multi-media player with the small and perfectly formed Movie Cube P800. Priced at £249.99, this stylish unit allows you to convert your DVD and video collection into a digital format and to store them - along with all your digital photos, TV programmes, YouTube clips and music - on an easy to remove hard drive of up to 500GB that can plug into a PC and is small enough to fit in a pocket.
The P800 features a hybrid TV tuner (DBVT & Analogue) with similar functionality to a Sky Digital Set Top Box. It allows you to record your favourite TV programmes straight onto the hard drive and replay them in digital quality – including High Definition programmes. You can even ‘pause’ live TV if someone rudely interrupts you and pick up where you left off later in the evening.
The easy to remove hard drive connects to a PC or laptop via a simple USB cable, allowing you to not only back-up your PC files but also to download movies, music, and photos which you can then watch on your TV.
With the ability to listen to Internet radio too, this highly compact portable entertainment device packs an incredible wealth of functionality in a small, stylish unit. Like most people I don’t want to spend more money on replacing old formats such as video, or to spend hours looking for the right DVD or CD that a favourite film is stored on.
“I also don’t want to be forced to watch content I download from the Internet on my PC or laptop, I want to share it with others and watch it on the big screen. The P800 does all this and more and promises an end to searching bookshelves for that missing tape or DVD,” he added.
EMTEC hasn’t forgotten the more ambitious user either. They can convert their home into a networked multimedia HD compliant entertainment centre by connecting their TV to their laptop, Mac or PC, via the Movie Cube using the Ethernet 10/100 connection for full NAS functionality.
